Conversations with Critters
Walk with the animals. Talk with the animals. And the CwC Annual Stay Safe Out There on the 4th of July message...
Today Critters, we are set to publish this post on the Fourth of July here in the USA. We wish all of you a safe and fun holiday weekend and would like to walk the walk and talk the talk about keeping our Furbabies safe during fireworks.
As many of you already know, the Fourth of July is the number one time of year that our pets are injured and lost. The stress and anxiety induced by the noise are more than a risk factor, they are a reality.
Here to discuss their own plans to stay safe and calm and still have fun are our Core Community Critters Jasper Kitten, Chris and Jojo. Please, join them in excellent keeping it cool critter conversation.
Heidi: Welcome, Friends! Thank you for being here with us for our Furever Friday Post and our Annual Stay Safe Out There on the 4th of July message!
Jasper: Hello, Critters! We are staying cool and calm in the Condo.
Chris: Hello hello! We have soothing sounds and smells, too.
Jojo: Hello and welcome, Everyone! Would now be a good time to say how it is A-okay to crawl inside the box spring if needed?
Jasper: Yes, Jojo. Please. Proceed.
Jojo: Thank you, Jasper.
Jasper: You’re welcome. The end.
Jojo: Critters, trust me on this. If you need to find a safe space under the bed and, or in the box spring, please do so at your leisure. The end.
Chris: Well said, Jojo. That’s the purrfect conversation opener for the Fourth of July at CwC. The end again.
Jojo: Excellent and Furthermore. We have several home set up suggestions for staying cool and calm in the midst of explosions, also known in the vernacular as fireworks.
Jasper: The curtains and shades are drawn. The doors are shut and secure. We have microchips and are wearing our collars and ID tags.
Chris: We have plenty of treats and snacks in addition to our regular meals which are not to be skipped even in the midst of explosions. Full stop.
Jojo: We have a lot of calming choices, too, when it comes to creating ambient soothing sounds and smells.
Jasper: Our fans are all on. Our calming pheromone diffusers are plugged in and scenting the air.
Chris: We also have a white noise machine set to our favorite fan sound.
Jojo: We have the tvs on at a low volume with shows that do not have any explosions or loud noises, including commercials. I prefer watching episodes of Scooby Doo. Just an FYI on that, Critters.
Jasper: And we have a selection of classical music playing. I prefer Vivaldi. The end.
Chris: My choice is Bach Cello Suites.
Jojo: I benefit from my own hearing loss, but really dig listening to Handel’s Water Music and Music for the Royal Fireworks.
Chris: In addition to these tips, Dear Gentle Critters and Dear Gentle Readers, we would like to share another photo of how I stay calm with my emotional support cat face squish stress ball. This is for your edification and enjoyment.
Jasper: Critters, this works for me, too. Yeah. I feel good about our emotional support cat face squish stress ball.
Chris: We can stay right here on the Couch. Together. The end.
Jojo: Fur sure, Chris. Being together is calming.
Chris: Yes. It. Is.
Jasper: Ditto.
Chris: Yet. Still. I would not rule out hiding in the box spring.
Jasper: Correct, Chris. Thank you for bringing the conversation full circle.
Jojo: Thank you very much, Chris. It’s important to keep our options open and remain flexible if circumstances do not swing in our favor.
Chris: You’re welcome. Flexibility is key.
Jasper: And essential.
Jojo: I’m glad that we all agree. Furever.
Chris: So thank you, Critters, for being here with us on the Fourth of July. We hope this helps all of you to stay safe and have fun out there.
Jojo: Cuz we luvluvluv you. Furever.
Jasper: Please, wherever you are in the world, have a happy day. We’ll see you again for our ever steady and at the ready Detective Tuesday Post for the highly anticipated release of Chapter 5 of The Case of the Jumping Gene! And we’re really gonna hop to it, Critters! The. End.

Arya and I think that these all are wonderful and intelligent suggestions, Jasper Kitten, Chris & Jojo and Heidi. Yet, Arya the Cockatiel has another great idea. Humans can ALL Celebrate holidays like Fourth of July without the noise and air pollution of fireworks.
There are many other and good ways to celebrate, which will not scare the animals and many humans, as well. I think Arya is on to something.
Happy Fourth of July. 🐦🦜🕊
Great suggestions Heidi and critters! I hope you all had a safe and happy holiday weekend.
