"I do not like being messed with." and "I mean, look at me." are the perfect captions for the closeup of Jojo. I laughed out loud again! So good, Heidi. The DNA results are highly anticipated here in Central Texas. Your critters are the best.

Thank you, Mary! That's so fun to make those lines the captions for the closeup. Jojo really doesn't like having his face touched, but is super cooperative in all other respects. Trimming his beard and collecting DNA samples come with their challenges.:)

Sounds like a steady hand and calming voice are just the thing for Jojo's facial tasks 😁

We just got back from our trail walk at the park and need to add "plant vector" to the tasks associated with his beard:)

Thank you, Diana! We've got a lot of genetics going on these days. We're guessing Yorkie, Scottie dog, and Chihuahua. We'll get the results in a few weeks.

Hi JoJo, I'm eager to hear the results of your DNA test. Please let the Hounds and Cats of Hound Hollow know, as we are all waiting, and we are very excited. Travis the Pup had a DNA test done because no one could figure out what kind of dog he is. His test results show that he is part American Cattle Dog, Australian Heeler, and a little bit Chihuahua. His trainer, Miss Kelly, said he has Chihuahua in him because he sounds like a Chihuahua when he barks. It's quite funny because he's a very big boy and he has a high-pitched squeaky bark.

JoJo, you look so handsome up close. Stay healthy and take care of yourself.

Your friend,

Emily & the Hounds & Cats of Hound Hollow

Thank you Emily & the Hounds & Cats of Hound Hollow & Lois! Hi, it's me, Jojo. That is incredible news about what is in Travis' mix. I would never have guessed that about the Chihuahua DNA. Powerful stuff. Personally, I don't bark unless I'm sleeping or have a line of dialogue in our detective stories. However. I want you to be the first to know that the DNA Lab has received my cheek swab samples and the analysis is in process. I will let you know when I get the results. I will send another close up. Your faithful friend, Jojo

Hi JoJo,

We remember the excitement we had while we waited in anticipation for Travis the Pup’s DNA results to come back.

We all agree that you have some Terrier in you DNA.

This is very, very exciting and we can hardly wait for your results.

Tail wages and sniffs to you, JoJo!

Emily, for the Hounds and Cats of Hound Hollow

This so pawesome, Heidi! Looking forward to seeing the results!

I've been thinking of doing this for Nalia and Salem because I suspect that they have some Maine Coon in them and would like some confirmation, but I've heard that DNA lineage is a bit more difficult to do for cats than it is for dogs🤔🤷‍♀️

Thank you, Kimber! There might not be as much genenomic info available yet for cats as for dogs in terms of these DNA kits. There's probably more in the data base for dogs, but Nalia and Salem could make their contribution to science. Keep us posted on what you decide to do!

Eagerly waiting to hear the results of Jojo's Terrier and other canine lineage, Heidi. He does have that Terrier tenacity.

I thought I'd try an impromptu sijo poem on the subject:

Tenacious in spirit with a sense of justice and the Truth.

Jojo the retired Detective Sergeant part of Jasper's team.

Bringing wisdom and level-headedness to the Critter Crew.

Thank you, Neil! We are truly honored by this impromptu sijo, it's absolutely wonderful! It's a keeper.:) Btw, at the pond today, Jojo observed a really active Green Heron and a Kingfisher. As for his DNA results, it takes about 3 weeks so please stay tuned.:)

The Kingfisher and Green Heron were both in flight as well as roosting. I got fairly poor photos of the heron and no photos of the kingfisher, but once in awhile they show up for us at the pond.
