Conversations with Critters
Walk with the animals. Talk with the animals. And a critter food web…
Today, Critters, we have made a rather executive decision about sharing one of the Oregon Naturalist Program assignments here with you, our Dear Gentle Critters and Dear Gentle Readers. This one said Hooman, never in the annals of time having been known for any talent in drawing or illustration, created a food web of the Great Blue Heron. And voila! We have received two, possibly even three, compliments on the drawing. A new found talent. The end.
Please, join our Core Community Critters, Jasper Kitten, Chris and our Senior Adopted Furever Furbaby Jojo in excellent feedback critter conversation.
Heidi: Hello, Friends! Thank you for joining us for our latest and most illustrative Friday Furever post! Take it away, Critters!
Jasper: Hello, hello! We are pleased to present our very own Food Web right here at the Condo!
Chris: What. I’m still counting my daily intake of 282 kilocalories. The end.
Jasper: Excellent, Chris. Full stop.
Chris: Thank you, Jasper. Thank you very much.
Jasper: You’re welcome! Of course of course. And now! Critters, please welcome welcome our new Senior Adoption, the one, the only Jojo!
Jojo: Hello, Critters! Hello, Friends! I’m so happy to be here with all of you. Furever.
Jasper: We are so happy to have you as our dog in the house, Jojo. You seem to be settling in nicely.
Jojo: Yes, I feel right at home.
Chris: The transition has been rather seamless, Jojo.
Jojo: It has.
Chris: Jojo, how is your comfort level on, for example, the Couch?
Jojo: Well, Chris, let me consider this question for a moment.
Chris: Of course, Jojo. Naturally. Please, take your time.
Jojo: In my humble opinion, I’d say the Couch is completely comfortable. Full stop.
Chris: Excellent. We appreciate your response.
Jojo: Yes. Anytime.
Jasper: Critters, let’s share a photo of Jojo’s comfort level on the Couch for the edification and enjoyment of our Readers:
Jasper: Now, I’d like to circle back to the opening topic about Food Webs.
Chris: Good idea, Jasper.
Jojo: O’kay, sure.
Jasper: Food Webs are complex, dynamic systems of an entire ecosystem with a synergy that feeds off of itself. Full stop.
Chris: Well said, Jasper.
Jasper: Thank you, Chris.
Chris: My pleasure.
Jasper: Jojo, in your experience in your new Senior Furever Home with Chris and myself, how would you describe our Food Web? Would you say that the dynamic is favorable and to your liking? Or does it need improvement? The end.
Jojo: Well, I’ve been somewhat underweight from the transition I made recently, so my caloric intake has been of paramount importance. Thank you for dropping your kibble on the floor.
Jasper: You’re welcome.
Chris: Ditto. It’s definitely an altruistic sacrifice on my part. Full stop.
Jojo: Yes, thank you very much. I’m steadily gaining weight and feeling good about getting three meals per day. Plus! The bonus kibbles which land on the floor in the vicinity of your cat bowls is something I really appreciate.
Jasper: Would you add, the end, to that statement, Jojo?
Jojo: Yes, I would Jasper.
Jasper: Thank you for the clarification on that, Jojo.
Jojo: You’re welcome, Jasper. Thank you for asking me.
Chris: Dropping a kibble here and a kibble there is the least we can do to celebrate having a dog in our lives again.
Jasper: That’s right, Chris.
Chris: Jojo, it’s getting cold here in Oregon. We understand that you got a new coat to help you manage your body temperature during this seasonal and geographical transition, coming out of Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco.
Jojo: Yes, it’s a comfy fleece and a retro 1970s vest design.
Jasper: And how has this helped you regulate your body temperature in terms of endothermic dynamics?
Jojo: Well, I feel good. Does that answer your question, Jasper?
Jasper: It does. Thank you, Jojo.
Chris: I believe we are all getting sleepy. Before we go, let’s share one more photo of Jojo, so all of our Dear Gentle Critters and Dear Gentle Readers can get to know you a little better.
Jojo: That’s very nice of you, Chris. I’m very happy to share this opportunity to get to know everyone here at CwC. The end.
Chris: Critters, thank you for being here with us for this highly educational episode on Food Webs and Caloric Intake, Retro ‘70s Vests, and the warmest welcome welcome for our Senior Adoption of Jojo. Furever. The end.
Jasper: Thank you, Friends, and we’ll see you next time for our Mystery Tuesday Post, featuring the highly anticipated release of Chapter 14 from The Case of The Misplaced Priority Envelope! Brought to you by the J Kitten, Sleuth & Purveyor of Bright Shiny Objects Detective Agency. The end. And Jojo, would you like the final CwC honors?
Jojo: Gosh, thank you Jasper Kitten. Thank you very much. The End. Full Stop. Furever.
Jasper: You did that very well.
Chris: Ditto.
Jojo: Thank you. The End.

I like that drawing of the food web for the Great Blue Heron, Heidi. I am not familiar with the food web and nice to see it visually. Also a great method to help you remember and visualize it by drawing it yourself. Nice to Jojo doing well and love the retro 70s vest!
An excellent food web, thank you for sharing it with us, Heidi!
