Conversations with Critters
Walk with the animals. Talk with the animals. And the Rainbow Bridge Crossing of our beloved Senior Shining Star…
Today, Critters, it is with great sadness and sorrow that we share with you the solemn news of our beloved Senior Shining Star who crossed the Rainbow Bridge over the weekend. She passed away peacefully in her sleep, in her favorite place at home, surrounded with our luvluvluv.
We would to replay the creekside video for you again with the same tranquil vibe that we posted last Friday. So many of you responded with luvluvluv to this creek in the rain and a single leaf falling and drifting onto the water.
Given the circumstance of Star’s crossing of the Rainbow Bridge, we feel this is a soothing offering and we post it again in this spirit. If we listen closely, we can even hear the sound of those cinnamon brown paws, walking across the bridge to furever and finding a soft place to land.
For those of you who have been reading CwC this year, you know that we have had our share of loss. In April, our beloved pup, Panda, made her crossing at the age of 17. Bereaved and bereft and dogless, we made the decision to adopt a special needs senior. And a Star was born.
When we adopted Star in June from Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco, we knew that she had major medical conditions, the most serious being a form of heart disease, the most common heart disease in dogs, especially in small dogs, called valvular degeneration. Ultimately, it was the cause of her passing.
We wish so much that she could have stayed with us longer, but again, even a few months is furever, especially in Senior Dog Years. Adopting Star in her teens and bringing her home has been the greatest honor and the deepest healing.
In Star’s ever loving memory, we will continue to feature her in our Mystery stories from the J Kitten, Sleuth & Purveyor of Bright Shiny Objects Detective Agency. She shines so bright, we may not even need a magnifying glass.
Sitting with Star over these past few months, through the dog days of summer, and typing away, has brought us so much comfort and joy and belonging. Thank you for being here with us to share the journey. We hope you’ll see her light, shining down on us from Dog Heaven and guiding us along the way. A hero’s journey, a little dog’s legacy. Furever and ever.
For the animals,

How sad. 😢 But in a way, Star is now off-leash and romping joyfully in spring meadows!
Sweet Star, her light has touched so many💫
