Thank you, Pamela! We appreciate your comments and kindness so much. Truly honored. We always draw inspiration from your own work. Thank you very much.🐾🐾
I mean where to even start!! Simply amazing from start to finish, but I must confess the line about the female Cardinals was simply beyond and I may print it out and post it on my window. When I moved here there were always 2 cardinals in the tree and now there is only 1. I see her in a whole new light now.
Thank you, Kristin! The Critters, based here on the West Coast, would luvluvluv to see Cardinals. You have helped to deepen their appreciation even further. Thank you very much.🐾🐾
You're welcome! We were in Acadia last summer and were nearly trampled by Floridians who had never seen a deer! I truly had no idea there were no West Coast Cardinals. It's actually our high school mascot. I always learn so much from you and the critters.
Thank you, Kristin! We always learn a lot from you, too! The conversation continues! We will let you know if we ever see a Cardinal on the West Coast. Sometimes Birds show up in unexpected places!
I feed both my avian and squirrel friends. Yes, it is true that the squirrels will at times take seeds from the birds, but I am dilgent in ensuring that the birds get their food.
Here is what I noticed. I leave sufficient nuts and seeds for the squirrels and birds. This I do very early morning; I am up at sunrise. The squirrels congregate and eat their fill of nuts. The birds their seeds, wary of the squirrels. Then at mid-morning, I lay down seeds for the birds. Squirrels are not present, because they already came early in the morning. The birds are alone, eating happily.
"The quoted commentary is of existential proportions. Yeah. I feel good about it." Definitely agree - Critters + Bird Photos + Haiku was bound be existential 🤣
Thank you, mitch! We really appreciate your kindness. Chris is gray and white, so the grayness helps with his temperament.:) Thank you so much for being here with us at Critters!🐾🐾
Heidi . Because of this response I checked on my cat .She is same colors as Chris , Maybe mine has to take a very long time to calm down . Friends of my son found the cat in a bag on side of the road with her deceased brothers and sisters . They asked if i would take her I said of course , she was a very young kitten . Got her shots , and fixed . now she is till young but not so little lol.
Thank you for sharing this with us, mitch. Your kitty got a traumatic start in life and we are so appreciative of your good care of her. A true rescue story! Chris was born to a feral momcat, in a garage, and socialized with hoomans from the beginning. This, combined with his grayness and his male feline gender, contribute to his calm-ish nature, although he is typically shy with new people. Please, keep us posted with how your kitty is doing. It can take a long time for them to settle, but you are giving her every opportunity. Furever.:)
Thank you so much, Heidi! This is a huge honor to be featured, and was such great fun to take part in. As much as the squirrels frustrate me I agree with Kermit, they are brilliant--though my latest seed storage system seems to have them beat. Thanks to you and the Critters for the very kind concluding poetry.
Thank you the most, James! It is truly an honor to have your participation as you have deepened our sense of community here at Critters. Kermit is, of course of course, incredibly concerned about the security of your seed storage system. If you happen to hear from him, can you let us know? Thank you so much.:)🐾🐾
Thank you so much for sharing this incredible story about Stubby! We luvluvluv this! I’m also not aware of Squirrels as pets, although I know quite a few people who are involved in rehab for wild Squirrels. 🐾🐾
Excellent haiku and images! I especially like the Chickadee haiku! Thanks for sharing Heidi and Critter crew!
Thank you, Neil! The Reader Submission Series is the gift that keeps on giving to Critters!
This is a great post, love everything about it! The bird photos from James at Rock and Hawk, the critters, the haiku!

Thanks for sharing Heidi, great haiku and photos
Thank you, April! You have set a great example for us! The Critters are so grateful.:)🐾🐾

Stunning bird pictures and beautiful haiku—what a fascinating way to learn about the world of birds!
Thank you, Bree! We’ll be sure to let James know at Rock & Hawk. Thank you very much for reading and commenting. 🐾🐾

So far it is working out for everyone.
Thank you, Perry. Fantastic timing between the two sets of critters! I’m going to have to up my game with my feeding system on the back deck. 🐾🐾
Wonderful haiku and bird pics. And, of course, that squirrel with payload. Take care, Heidi and critters.
Thank you, Diana! We so appreciate you being here with us! 🐾🐾

She is semi settled just doesn't trust most humans yet , I can understand that . Will keep you posted
Great, staying tuned.:)

We had a squirrel on our block who lost his tail, presumably to a cat or dog.
However, it did not stop him from doing all the squirrel stuff...climbing trees and telephone poles...eating nuts...running along telephone wires.
We named him "Stubby" for obvious reasons, and he hung around for a normal squirrel lifespan.
I asked an animal expert if he would have done longer as a pet, and said they did not make good pets.
Thank you so much for sharing this incredible story about Stubby! We luvluvluv this! I’m also not aware of Squirrels as pets, although I know quite a few people who are involved in rehab for wild Squirrels. 🐾🐾
Stubby was a fun neighbor. So resilient.
Stubby’s resilience is inspiring!
