Conversations with Critters
Walk with the animals. Talk with the animals. And meditations on friends furever…
Today, Critters, we are on location with our lifelong friends, Bec, Lily and Florence. This is the stuff that dreams are made of and we invite you to come with us as we meditate on the meaning of furever. This multi-furbaby family has deep deep roots with us here at CwC and we also look forward to many antics and episodes long into the future. Furever.
And now! In a bold move, our recently adopted shining little senior Star will be stepping into the role of Featured Furbaby Host. Please, join us in excellent furever and ever critter conversation.
Heidi: Hello, Friends. Welcome and thank you so much for your kind and rapt attention here at CwC. In our previous post, we found ourselves tapping tapping into our Historic Archives in order to feature our multi-furbaby family and introduce them to our growing community of readers and subscribers. In the free flowing current of a present day conversation, we say it outloud: Take it away, Star!
Star: Hello, Critters! I am so truly humbled to be your Featured Host today. Thank you for this stellar opportunity to be of service to you. Without further fanfare, I will now thank our friends, Bec and Lily and Florence for being here with us. Thank you, Bec. Thank you, Lily. Thank you, Florence. Thank you very much.
Bec: You’re welcome! Kisses kisses kisses!
Lily: Thank you, Star. It’s our pleasure to be with you here today. I’m a senior myself at 13 years old, so we have a lot of natural life history in common. Yeah. I feel good about it.
Florence: Thank you, Star. Do you think Chris will stop by? You know, I feel a deep deep kinship with him since we’re both gray kitties.
Star: Thank you for asking Florence. This connection with Chris will only serve to further enhance the incredible conversation about to unfold. Let me put a call through to him on the Starlight Express. Waiting. Waiting.
Chris: What.
Florence: Oh Chris! It’s so good to hear your voice!
Chris: Likewise, Florence. Before we go any further, let’s share a photo of varying shades of gray, of shadow and light, for the edification and enjoyment of our Readers.
Florence: Excellent move, Chris. A pivot if ever there was one in a conversation.
Chris: Yes, well said, Florence. And most of all, this is about napping.
Chris: For the record, Florence and I are now returning to the stuff our dreams are made of. Fare thee well.
Star: Thank you, Florence and Chris. This has been so gracefully instructive. Thank you for focusing our attention on the art of napping and varying shades of gray. Being made of starlight myself, I really learned a lot from you.
Florence: You are most welcome, Star. Chris and I must now pivot back to our essential inherent natural state.
Chris: Of course of course. The end.
Star: Critters, we now turn our attention to a linguistic feature of great and illustrious importance. Bec has received a direct communication from our highly esteemed critter colleague, the one, the only French-Canadian Cockatiel, Arya, and his writerly companion
.Bec: Thank you for turning our attention to the meaning of my name in translation from the French! Arya, in his wisdom, has made the point that my name means both kiss and beak. Furever.
Lily: Bec, in my experience which is so vast, I humbly agree with this translation. It really works for me.
Bec: Oh thank you, Lily. And thank you, Arya, for your winged wisdom. Thank you very much.
Star: Thank you very much to Arya for this incredible translation. Now, Lily and Bec, circling back to the topic of napping, we have made the observation in our field notes that you both make sleeping on the couch look so effortless.
Bec: Thank you, Star.
Lily: Thank you very much for this illuminating observation, Star.
Star: Chris and I have been learning the fine art of coexistence on our Couch at the Condo.
Bec: It is an art.
Lily: Yes and a practice. Although, we can’t speak for Florence, especially while she is napping, but we would like to state for the record that she does not share the couch with us due to her inherent sense of independence.
Bec: Yes. The end.
Star: Gosh, this is truly amazing to know that not all gray cats are alike. I’m making note of that for my own future reference. Thank you for broadening my horizons, Lily and Bec.
Bec: You’re welcome!
Lily: Of course of course.
Star: I do have one further note on this topic which takes into account a rather astronomical activity in terms of your napping behaviors. Bec and Lily, you are both known to avail yourselves of certain opportunities in our Solar System, specifically hanging out in the light of our own star known in the vernacular as the Sun.
Bec: Absolutely.
Lily: Ditto.
Star: Do I need to add that this activity is taking place on Planet Earth?
Bec: I believe this could be interpreted as self-evident.
Lily: Yeah, we’re good.
Star: Oh, thank you so much.
Bec: Critters! Alert! I just saw a streak of orange blaze across the sky!
Lily: Was it a shooting star?
Star: Critters! I must identify this as an optical incident of existential proportions!
Bec: Star, please tell us everything you know!
Lily: We are all ears!
Star: That, my friends and dear gentle readers, was a cameo appearance by the one, the only Jasper Kitten!
Bec: Oh, he burns so bright!
Lily: He is incandescent! He is Orange!
Jasper: Helloooo, Critters! We hope you have enjoyed our conversation with the incredible multi-furbaby family, featuring Bec, Lily and Florence. I have been running in the background in order to let our beautiful shiny Star guide us in our efforts today! Star, thank you for your radiance, your brilliance, your place in the firmament in all the heavens and, something, well, something else, yes! That’s it, something else which is incredible! Thank you, Starshine!
Star: Gosh, Jasper Kitten, that’s so nice of you. Thank you for giving me the air time. Thank you to our furbabies, Bec and Lily and Florence because I’ve learned so much as the Featured Host and you are an amazing constellation of critters.
Bec: Thank you, Star. Great to be here.
Lily: We luvluvluv being here. Thank you, Star.
Florence: Thank you very much.
Star: Critters, we’ll see you next time, so please look up up up on a starry starry night and we’ll all be shining together! Stay safe and have fun out there. Oh! And a special note has just come in from Kermit who is foraging in the Mountain Forest at altitude. He says and I quote, take deep deep breaths and stay oxygenated! The end.

Starry starry night. Arya and I enjoyed this so much; and we are honoured by the mention. Merci beaucoup.
Aww, Florence is a dilute tortie! So beautiful.
