Conversations with Critters
Walk with the animals. Talk with the animals. And Happy Two Month Senior Furever Adoption Anniversary to Star…
Today, Critters, we are so pleased to return to our regularly scheduled programming. First and foremost, we want to offer you our luvluvluv for your patience and support over the past week as we kept our Senior Shining Star in comfort and stable cardio care.
All is well! Star’s beautiful heart shows no signs of congestive failure related to her valvular degeneration. This is the best news we could have hoped for after she had a cough during several days of hot weather in July. We thank our veterinary team for checking under the hood. Star is resting easy and ready to shine.
And now! Please, join our Core Community Critters, Jasper Kitten, Chris and Star as we celebrate the Two Month Senior Furever Adoption of our Special Little Dog. We welcome welcome you in excellent heartfelt critter conversation.
Heidi: Hello, Everyone! We are back to our regularly scheduled programming and thank you for staying tuned during our paws in the action. Your luvluvluv and support helped us get through a series of vet visits and cardio work ups and we got good news. We go on! Take it away, Critters!
Star: Hello and thank you to all of our Friends here at CwC for keeping me in your thoughts. You have helped me so much. I send you my starry starry gratitude.
Chris: We luvluvluv you, Star.
Jasper: Ditto. We luvluvluv you, Star.
Star: It’s great to be back. Thank you, Chris and Jasper. Thank you very much. It’s not every day that a Senior Little Dog like me is so uplifted by their Kitties and Community of Friends.
Chris: We’ll always be here for you, Star.
Jasper: Furever. You’ll never walk alone.
Star: I am truly humbled. When I was adopted two months ago, I had no idea that furever would feel like this. Everyday.
Chris: Yes.
Jasper: Yes.
Star: Furever feels good.
Jasper: Star, in honor and celebration of your Two Month Senior Furever Adoption, we would like to throw a Party for you!
Star: Gosh, Jasper Kitten. I’m beside myself with excitement!
Jasper: What kind of Party do you want to celebrate this incredible furever milestone?
Star: Gosh, Jasper Kitten, thank you for asking. I would like to celebrate with a Slumber Party.
Chris: Excellent Party Planning, Star. In my estimation, The Couch figures naturally and prominently in the festivities.
Star: Absolutely, Chris. We sleep fifteen, sixteen, even seventeen, eighteen hours per day. So, Critters, party!
Jasper: A Slumber Party is purrfect. Yeah. I feel good about it. The end.
Chris: I’m getting The Couch organized as we speak.
Jasper: Star, while Chris is preparing The Couch for your celebratory big bash slumber party, would you feel open to discussing your recent medical needs?
Star: Thank you for the question, Jasper Kitten.
Jasper: Of course of course.
Star: Yes. If this helps anyone else to live well, to thrive, and to start over, especially as a senior, then I am more than happy to tell my tale.
Jasper: We’re all ears. Aren’t we, Chris. Question mark question mark.
Chris: Yes, we’re all ears. Full stop.
Star: My medical issues, especially with my heart, first and foremost, are stable. We were able to determine this after going to my highly esteemed veterinarian, and I do mean vet visits in the plural.
Jasper: Yes, we missed you when you were away from the Condo.
Chris: It’s such a great feeling when you come home, Star. The end.
Star: Thank you. Knowing you were waiting for me, helped me get through my appointments and cardio work up.
Jasper: Star, how did your medical needs factor into your Senior Adoption?
Star: Gosh, Jasper, you know a lot of kind hearted hoomans were interested in adopting me, but when they saw my special needs, especially with my heart and my whopping murmur, they, shall we say, they demurred.
Jasper: Star, that swung everything in our favor!
Chris: Ditto!
Star: Oh my goodness. Now I’ve been living here at the Condo with you for two furever months already. And, I’m quite relieved to say, we now have a full and current updated baseline on my heart condition.
Jasper: We are relieved.
Chris: We are. I’m beyond words. Full stop.
Star: Yes. I have what is known in the vernacular as the most common canine heart condition, especially for Little Dogs, which is valvular degeneration. I am so happy to report that my condition has remained stable.
Chris: Star, would you please let us know what caused your cough in July?
Star: Of course, Chris, of course. The cough was from my heart putting a little pressure on my trachea, the windpipe. You see, my left atrium, the upper left chamber of my heart, is a little big.
Chris: But not too big?
Star: Correct.
Jasper: Gosh, cardiology sure is complicated.
Chris: You can say that again, Jasper. Ditto.
Star: Yes, but quite simply, I have no signs of congestive heart failure after my cardio work up at the vet.
Jasper: Hooray for your heart, Star!
Chris: Hooray!
Jasper: Chris, what are you googling with your toe beans while you prepare The Couch for Star’s Slumber Party?
Chris: Thank you for the question, Jasper.
Jasper: You’re welcome!
Chris: Critters, I share with you the following findings: Leonardo da Vinci understood cardiology over five hundred years ago. The end.
Star: Thank you, Chris. This is quite fascinating. Critters, let’s share a photo of a da Vinci drawing for the edification and enjoyment of our Readers:

Chris: Furthermore and according to the google tapping tapping of my toe beans, da Vinci understood the physics of the heart’s liquid turbulence, the function of the valves and how our blood circulates and becomes oxygenated in the lungs. The end.
Kermit: Helloooo, Critters! Did someone say oxygenated?
Chris: Yes, I said oxygenated! Kermit, have you been breathing easy at altitude in the Mountains?
Kermit: I am pleased to answer in the affirmative. Thank you, my highly esteemed oxygenated colleagues. I have come down from the Mountains to see you in the Valley.
Star: Oh Kermit, are you going to crash our Slumber Party?
Kermit: Yes I am.
Star: This is truly incredible. Kermit, you have such a specific and critical role to bring to our Slumber Party. Thank you for being here with us.
Kermit: Of course of course, Star. Critters, let’s all take a deep deep breath in and then exhale all the way out.
Star: Oh, thank you very much, Kermit. And Critters, based on my own echocardiogram and chest X-rays, my heart’s circulatory velocities are strong and I’m breathing easy. Did you know that my pulmonary artery is in excellent shape?
Jasper: This is the best news I have ever heard.
Kermit: Does that mean that the lub and the dub of your heart is powerful?
Star: Yes. Yes it does.
Jasper: Star, you are an incredible Party Animal.
Star: Gosh, thank you for the compliment, Jasper. Although, even partying can be quite fatiguing.
Chris: Critters, with that said, we’ll see you in our Dreams!
Star: So, until next time, stay safe, keep shining, and have fun out there!
Jasper: The End.
Star: Oh! Critters! I don’t have to go back to the vet for six months!
Jasper: Party.
Chris: Party.
Kermit: Party.
Star: The End.
